Miriam is talented, fearless and positive woman!! She is from France but is living now in New York!!
This is the statement about her work:
Angel’s Hair was born from my desire to create a new, young, and multi-cultural home-design brand, made from hand-made, and fair-trade products. My inspiration comes from my experiences as a world traveler.
1. When and how did you start seeing your hobby as a business? How did you start Angel’s hair?
R/ When I came to the US, I tried for a while to find a job. After a few unsuccessful job interviews due to my poor English, I had to stop and think.
When I was in France, I had created an art gallery promoting emerging artists and designers. I sold my own personal work as well. But I didn’t want to open another art gallery here in NY without learning more about the art market in the US.
Then, while browsing the net, I discovered Etsy, and found the idea fun and innovative. This is how Angel’s hair started. I could create my artworks and designs and sell them online. My English and knowledge of the US was not a problem anymore.
2. how do you start your creative process?
After I find a source of inspiration, I usually start by a good cup of coffee :). I think this is one of the most important steps in my creative process. During that time, things get in place in my head. It is like making mental drafts. Only after that do I start working, either drawing, sewing, etc..
3. Where do you find motivation to continue with your
goals?
I tell myself that the process is as important as the goal.
The chance to have the opportunity and knowledge to express myself, is its own best reason. I also try to remind myself how the creative process is vital for me.
4. Time management is a big issue in a personal business. what is your secret ?
It is actually my biggest issue!:).
I try to do my best, and prioritize, but my working days are still too long. On the other hand, this is also what makes the charm of this type of business. It is not a job anymore, it becomes a lifestyle.
5. What is your favorite way to get inspired?
My inspiration comes from nature and from meeting people on this journey of life. This is the magic that inspires me most in my work
