Since I interviewed Juliette Crane, I fell in love with Mixed media.. I had been reading and making research about this lovely technique, Then I discovered Andrea Tiffany and I fell in love with her art. I love the colors, the shapes, their eyes !! everything. I feel so honored today to have Andrea Tiffany in my blog today ! Enjoy this lovely interview :)
1. Tell me a bit about yourself
I am a self-taught artist currently living in Northern Kentucky. I started creating my art in watercolor, but when I discovered mixed media I really fell in love. I am addicted to scrapbooking, learning to combine my printed paper passion with paint and pencil gave me an opportunity to create my vision. Most of my art is created around girls of all kinds. I love to create them as angels, fairies and just whimsical little girls who will make you smile. I grew up in the "southend" of Louisville KY, hence the name "Southend Girls"
2. How did you start with your art?
I honestly started this style of art after taking an online class with Suzi Blu. I buy tons of technique books and magazines and always try to incorporate what I learn.
3. What are your inspirations?
My inspirations are all around me. I grew up in a family of all girls and I have several nieces that inspire me daily. I love nature, music and color. The three are a great combination!
4. Could you explain a little bit about your technique?
My technique is a combination of my pencil illustrations, scraps of scrapbook paper and vintage finds. I use collage gel, acrylic and watercolor paint, chalk and ink. I love to work on wood and wood canvas.
5. how do you start your creative process?
My creative process starts with my sketchbook.
6. Where do you find motivation to continue with your goals?
I like to set my art goals yearly and when I achieve a goal it motivates me to take it one step further.
7. When and how did you start seeing your hobby as a business?
I was a hairstylist for 16 years, four years ago my husband and I relocated to Northern KY with his company. I retired from the hair business and decided to move my hobby into a full time business. I’m still growing, but so far I have been able to work my art full time.
8. Time management is a big issue in a personal business. what is your secret ?
Time management??? I have none. That will be a new goal for next year :)
9. Where do you see yourself in five years?
In five years I hope to feel comfortable with calling myself an artist and to continue to evolve in new media. I hope I am one step closer to living and working in my dream studio. I would love to learn more about photography and how to do digital collage.
10. Where can we see more about you and your art?
You can learn more about me and my inspirations on my blog. andreaspaperboutique.blogspot.com
